Prof. Nilüfer Göknar is a Pediatric Nephrologist and the Head of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Prof. Dr. Suleyman Yalcin City Hospital and Istanbul Medeniyet University, Istanbul, Turkey. She has been serving as a Professor of Pediatric Nephrology for the past two years.
She completed her medical degree at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical School (Uğur Derman English Medicine Program) in 2005, followed by a Pediatrics residency at Cerrahpaşa Medical School (2005–2010). She then pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Nephrology at Bezmialem Vakif University between 2011 and 2016. In 2019, she also worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London as an observer doctor for three months, gaining additional experience in complex pediatric nephrology cases.
Prof. Göknar’s clinical and academic work focuses on a broad range of pediatric kidney disorders, with particular interests in congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, cystic kidney diseases, pediatric dialysis, and glomerular diseases. She has an extensive publication record, with 43 SCI-indexed articles on PubMed, and is actively involved in national and international research collaborations.
In addition to her clinical and scientific roles, she leads the Pediatric Nephrology Department, contributes to residency and fellowship training, and frequently lectures at national and international congresses. Prof. Göknar continues to integrate clinical excellence with scientific productivity, aiming to advance the care and outcomes of children with kidney diseases.
